Holding the Ball
  1. Place hands approx 2/3 up along the middle seam
  2. Point fingers downwards, parallel to the seam
  3. If ball is wet, bring hands further back behind the central seam

Giving the Pass

  1. Maintain speed
  2. Feet stay in desired direction
  3. Turn body at hips towards direction of team player
  4. At same time, draw arms & hands away (opposite direction)
  5. Keep outside elbow up (inside down) & focus on direction of pass
  6. Swing the hands across body allowing fingers to push ball to player
  7. Ensure ball is passed in front of player at chest level

Taking the Pass

  1. Maintain speed
  2. Maintain desired direction
  3. Turn head & shoulders (not hips) facing ball & prepare arms to receive pass
  4. Run into ball with fingers extended & grasp/cradle into arms/body

Standard Tackle

  1. Drive body into opponent especially shoulders into thigh
  2. Enclose arms (“Grip”) around both legs above the knee
  3. Focus on opponents thighs
  4. Place head behind opponents buttocks
  5. Keep hold until opponent falls

Smooth Tackle

  1. Apply “Grip” around opponents arms & ball
  2. Keep head out of the way until weight & momentum of tackler should knock the player down

Punt-Kick

  1. Hold ball pointing forward with lace at top
  2. Body facing desired direction
  3. Upper hand ready to place ball down onto to kicking foot
  4. Other hand acts as stabiliser
  5. Foot straight & ankle flexed to receive ball
  6. Foot follows right up with toe pointing away

Drop-Kick

  1. Hold ball with both hands on the sides
  2. Body facing desired direction
  3. Drop ball at correct angle (needs practice)
  4. Standing foot geared toward the ball
  5. Point kicking toe away
  6. Straight on contact with the ball

Place Kick

  1. Make clean hole & place ball exactly over it
  2. Ball has to be straight
  3. Make sure that the lace is upright & facing the kicker
  4. Make sure that the kicking foot, ball & center of cross bar (from goal posts) are in a straight line
  5. Make sure kicking foot is straight on impact
  6. Keep eyes on the ball
